Kızılay Gönüllü Ol.

An end-to-end volunteering experience, from discovery to action.

We completely redesigned Türk Kızılay’s Gönüllü Ol platform. An unrefined, complex first version became a coherent web and iOS experience where volunteers can find suitable tasks, join training and teams, and share their experiences.

Need.

Gönüllü Ol is more than a listing of volunteer opportunities. It is a multifunctional product where volunteers and Kızılay units manage the full process: registration, profiles, orientation, training, task discovery, applications, teamwork, sharing and evaluation.

The existing version did not make this breadth understandable. Its information architecture, flows and visual language were unrefined and complex. We needed to simplify functions for different user groups, guide volunteers to suitable tasks and establish a consistent system for managers to track progress.

Approach.

Rethinking the entire volunteering journey

We treated the platform as a complete journey from first visit to active volunteering, rather than a set of individual screens. We reordered registration, profile completion, interests, training, task discovery, applications and evaluation, reducing unnecessary effort and making the next step clear.

Making the right task easier to find

Tasks can be discovered by interests, location and availability. Filterable lists, map views and clear task cards help volunteers compare suitable opportunities and reach details quickly.

Different user groups, one shared system

The public website, volunteer profiles, task screens and management and moderation panels share the same product logic. We addressed each group’s needs in context while establishing a common information and interaction language.

Making complex information clear through visuals

Icons, diagrams, maps and guidance components support multi-step processes rather than relying on long explanations. A visual storytelling system makes volunteering areas and the platform’s workings understandable at a glance.

Supporting continued participation

We reworked gamification to make volunteers’ progress, contributions and next goals clearer. These elements do more than provide rewards: they guide the volunteering journey and support active participation.

A consistent experience from web to iOS

We designed responsive versions of the website, user screens and management areas, alongside a dedicated iOS experience. Task discovery, profile management and participation were reprioritised for small screens and use on the move, while retaining a shared visual language.

The work.

Gönüllü Ol launched as a comprehensive volunteering platform. Volunteers can register, build profiles, join training and teams, find tasks through maps or lists, and share experiences. Kızılay units can create calls for volunteers with the required skills, manage training and teams, and track participation.

New information architecture, simpler flows and consistency across web and mobile make the extensive functionality easier to understand. The platform remains active at gonulluol.org and through its mobile app. It is an important example of turning complex operations into a human, accessible product that encourages participation.

Collaboration & scope.

Pars Design was responsible for Kızılay Gönüllü Ol’s information architecture, UX and UI design. We worked with ID3, which provided the technical infrastructure and software development.
