Domino’s Mahalle.
From complex internal processes to a digital neighbourhood for everyone.
We designed Mahalle, Domino’s intranet, from the ground up, bringing tasks, content and employee needs into one digital workspace. We organised extensive information and functionality around daily work, pairing clear information architecture with an interface ahead of its time.

Need.
For an organisation with the reach and operational demands of Domino’s, an intranet needed to be more than a news channel. It had to be a central workspace for daily tasks, bringing together campaign announcements, a staff directory, events, HR forms and meeting-room bookings.
There was no existing product or interface when the project began. The main challenge was making a large volume of content and functionality accessible without overwhelming employees. We needed to build information architecture and user flows from scratch so people in different roles could quickly find what they needed.

Approach.
We built around people’s tasks, not content categories
We began by analysing all information and functions, grouping related needs. Navigation followed employees’ daily tasks and decisions rather than the organisation chart. This turned a dense system into clear flows, with an obvious starting point and next step.
We gave dense information a clear hierarchy
On the homepage, we established clear priorities between company announcements, campaigns, events and frequently used tools. We simplified the staff directory, HR forms and bookings within their own contexts, aiming to reduce the steps needed to reach relevant content.
We developed an interface ahead of its time
At a time when corporate intranets were known for heavy, mechanical interfaces, we combined functionality with a strong visual system. A modular structure, distinct content layers, confident colour and clear interaction patterns made the interface both capable of handling dense information and enjoyable to use.

The work.
Mahalle launched as a comprehensive intranet connecting internal communications, employee services and daily operations. Employees could follow campaigns and announcements, find colleagues, view events, access forms and book meeting rooms through a calendar.
Used for many years, the project was well received by users and the industry. Its departure from conventional enterprise software earned IMA Best in Class and Stevie Awards Silver recognition. Mahalle remains an important example of how information architecture and UX design can turn complex data and processes into a clear, contemporary digital product.
